If you have decided to start a volleyball tournament or just a fun game with some friends, you will need to have the right volleyball to play. There are two types of volleyballs, inside and outside versions. If it is a simple game of fun sport between friends, you can select the type of ball you prefer though if you want to play professionally, you will need a volleyball for outside or inside versions.

There are many different volleyball brands out there, and it is important to note which ones are the best for both inside and outside options. These volleyballs come in recreational and competitive and have price margins for each.

Indoor Volleyballs

Because your ball will take a lot of beating while playing, you should strive to find quality balls of name brands that are trusted and preferred by professionals and avid sports fans. Typical brands include Wilson, Mikasa, Tachikara and Molten, and each has its own performance options, prices and abilities.

Wilson balls offer a latex cover material that allows for better playability and touch in competitive players. If you are going to play competitively or just want the feel of a competitive ball, consider iCOR Power Touch or High Performance versions, ranging in price from around $60 to $90, depending on the version and place you shop. If you prefer a recreational ball, Wilson has you covered, as well with their Pro Tour, Reaction and Reaction Light versions. These can range in price from around $20 to $50.

Mikasa offers a large selection of balls and they are about the same price as the others. If you are looking for a very popular brand, Tachikara offers great colors and styles for competition and recreational players, though many people prefer Molten indoor volleyballs because they have a soft touch.

Outside Volleyballs

Popular outside brands include Spalding, Wilson and Mikasa, and each offers their own types and colors. Spalding offers all-weather balls that are perfect to play during and after rain, while Wilson offers official game balls and Mikasa provides perfect beach volleyballs. Prices can range from as little as $35 to as much as $70, depending on brand and type.

Official Ball Requirements

According to the International Federation of Volleyball, official balls must weigh at least nine ounces and no more than 10. The pressure of the ball should be between four and a half and six pounds and be made of synthetic leather or leather, especially for indoor games.

For the best in volleyballs, consider, as they offer many popular brands and colors.
