Fat Loss Supplements: Combinations That Work

Everybody knows that fat loss supplements are a great idea if you need help losing weight.  What most people don’t know is that you can combine several of these supplements for an even greater effect with better results.  Here are some combinations that you can use to help you get rid of the fat and stay lean.

The first fat burning combination to consider is made up of selenium, calcium and zinc, all minerals that are needed by your body.  Selenium is used in the production of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3).  This hormone keeps your metabolism up allowing you to burn more calories.  Calcium on the other hand regulates a different hormone called calcitriol which stops the body from breaking down fat and begin producing it if there is a need.  If you keep your calcium levels at the right place, calcitriol goes into suppression allowing the breakdown of fat.  Calcium also has the ability of reducing how much dietary fat goes into your intestine. Zinc is also used in the production of thyroid hormones and therefore being low on zinc could lead to a sluggish metabolism.

The second set of fat loss supplements is green tea extract and caffeine.  Catechins are compounds that can be found in green tea extract.  They include a compound known as EGCG or epigallocatechin gallate.  It is an inhibitor of the enzyme used in the breakdown of norepinephrine.  When this happens, metabolism as well as fat burning remains high for a longer period of time.  Caffeine on the other hands boosts the loss of fat by binding itself to fat cells.  By doing this it stops fat storage and also removes fat from the cells it binds to.  Fat is burned even at rest.

The third set is made up of proteins – soy and whey.  If you use these protein powders as a protein supplement you will not just shed body fat but you will also enhance muscle growth. Whey protein goes a long way in the reduction of hunger because it increases the hormones glucagonlike peptide-1 and cholecystokinin which blunt hunger.  Soy contains peptides in it.  These cause your brain to send a message to your body that keeps your metabolism high even during times of rest.  At the same time, your hunger is decreased meaning that you eat less daily.  Selecting any one of the above combinations will bring about the results you have been looking for, faster.
