How Do You Check if Your Helmet is Safe?

Oct 25, 21 How Do You Check if Your Helmet is Safe?

If you ride a motorcycle, one of the most important things you can do is wear a helmet. There are plenty of excuses not to do so, but with the risk of car fatalities so high for those on bikes, it is a critical investment to make. However, to make it worthwhile, you need to be sure your helmet is safe and the proper fit.

Get a Safety Inspection

If you have a provider nearby, having them provide an overview and inspection may help. However, there are a few things you can do on your own to check if your helmet is safe. A visual inspection is the first step. Look for any signs of damage to the exterior shell. If there are any dents or areas of worn metal, that helmet may no longer be safe to wear. Small cracks can also be a concern. If any component of the helmet is damaged or no longer holding in place, do not use it. If your helmet has seen a lot of wear and tear and the interior is damaged, that is also a safety risk.

If you have any questions about the safety and fit of your helmet, switch to a new one. Because there are such high risks involved, it is nearly always a good idea to invest in a new helmet that is fitted to your head.

At The Helmet Inspection Company their services will leave you to enjoy more care-free riding.
