Mooring lines are a reserve of the marine life whether for pleasure or business. Sailing, anchoring and docking watercrafts in docks or harbours require high calibre ropes. Synthetic ropes like sisal, polyester, polyethylene and nylon are highly favoured due to their ability to withstand the tension that comes with sea life. Browse website for more information

As with everything else, there are some guidelines that are applied while selecting the right rope. Below are some factors to consider in selecting the right rope:

Type of Work

The type of mooring lines in CT should depend on the type of work it will be subjected to like cargo freights require higher density unlike say a smaller vessel used for sporting and recreation. The density of the rope varies from rope to another. Construction of the rope during manufacture range from 4-strand ropes to 12-strands ropes.

These are basically strands interwoven together to make one strong thick rope with the number of strands increasing the strength of the rope. You also want to consider whether you will need the rope to be elastic or not whether you and if you require it to float on water.

Type of Vessel

This should be the first rule of thumb when looking for the right marine rope. The size of the watercraft will help you determine what type of rope you require. Smaller vessels require shorter lines of lower density while larger vessels require longer and stronger lines. This will also determine the number of ropes that will be required, for instance a larger vessel will have bow, stern and spring lines.

These boats require high stamina ropes that will withstand constant abrasion, twists, cuts and heat degradation to give good service by lasting longer. Most mooring lines in CT are protected from chaffing easily and from UV degradation by an extra synthetic fibre jackets or coating to increase their longevity.

Simple Guidelines to Follow

* Choose the same density and strength for mooring ropes performing the same function to share the load equally.

* Consult with the sales person to get the right size lines for the winches to be used.

* Environmental conditions like current, wind, sun and temperature should be considered.

* Replacement of old and worn out mooring lines should be the same and length of the existing ones for compatibility.

* Always go for protected ropes which will give you better service than the standard ones.
