Check the Qualifications of Your Dentist in Katy

Feb 21, 12 Check the Qualifications of Your Dentist in Katy

Posted by in Dentistry

As important as it is to see your dentist in Katy regularly, it is equally important to make sure to verify the qualifications of your dentist and other health care professionals. Most of us simply walk into a doctor’s or dentist’s office and simply trust that they have the training and experience that is necessary. Most of the time they do; however, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting this week of a 58-year-old man who has been arrested and charged with practicing dentistry without a license. Nevio Morias had allegedly set up a dentist practice in an apartment in Cobb County. An investigator went to the apartment in January complaining of a toothache. He found that Morias had a dentist’s chair, instruments, and a device that appeared to be an X-ray machine. According to the investigator’s report, Morias looked in his mouth and told the investigator that he had an inflammation that would require an extraction. He then allegedly told the investigator that the extraction could be performed for $100. Morias then gave the investigator a pill for the inflammation. The investigator told Morias that he would return for the tooth extraction when he had the $100. Following the visit, a warrant was obtained for Morias’s arrest when the investigator determined that Morias does not hold a dentist’s license in Georgia. In this day and age, it is hard to imagine that such a horrific situation could even exist. However, cases of unscrupulous individuals posing as doctors, dentists, and other professionals have become all too common. Most of us believe that we are too smart to be taken in by such swindlers, and generally, we are. However, one of the ways of being that smart is to inquire as to the credentials of any doctor or dentist that we visit in Katy. Just as you wouldn’t take your car to a mechanic without first verifying that the mechanic is trained and certified to work on your...

What is the Basis to Claim Damages in a Motorcycle Accident?

A motorcycle accident can cause severe injuries to a rider. If you have sustained injuries because of an accident involving another vehicle you could be compensated for your injury. In order to claim compensation, the driver of the other vehicle must be shown to be responsible for the collision. A trained personal injury lawyer can guide you in such an event. The lawyer can assess the accident to determine whether or not you are entitled to compensation. The lawyer requires verifying four basic facts and legal elements have to be investigated. They are: Duty, Breach, Causation and Damages. The driver of any vehicle has the duty and basic obligation to operate his or her vehicle in a manner that is safe and reasonable. States have their own laws that dictate the behavior of automobile drivers and drivers of other vehicles. Each state has specific duties that establish what the rules of yielding in traffic situations are. Not abiding by the statutory rules can be a breach of duty. Facts must support any perceived breach of duty by the driver. The case is then referred to as a case of negligence. Breach by the automobile driver or negligence can be proved to cause the motorcycle accident. The final element of an evaluation is to decide whether the automobile driver’s action was the most significant factor that caused the motorcycle accident. If that is the case, then the negligence of the other driver was responsible for the personal injury of the motorcycle driver. After medical professionals and tests have determined the extent of injuries to the victim of motorcycle accident, the motorcyclist’s personal injury lawyer can aggressively pursue damages for the client that is fair and reasonable. There is no exacting formula that awards compensation in such cases. Victims should always consult with an experienced legal professional having prior understanding and exposure to related cases. Experienced legal counsel would result in a more favorable outcome for the accident victim. Your personal injury lawyer would also ensure...

Posted by in Legal Advice

Paying the bills on time and settling pending debts has never been this difficult. With the economy in the doldrums and no sign of any quick recovery in the near future, many ordinary folks are facing precarious circumstances. If you are in dire straits and require some of or your entire debt burden to be removed you should call a bankruptcy attorney and consider filing for bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is usually seen as a last resort – a last ditch effort to get your finances in order. Before you consider taking this step, you should realize the gravity of bankruptcy and what it means for your financial future. The law requires you to get credit counseling from a government approved provider at your own expense, six months prior to filing and also to undergo a means test. Proof of credit counseling would be required during the filing procedure. The bankruptcy attorney should be consulted as soon as possible. The legal professional is better qualified to expedite matters and achieve a more favorable result for you. The lawyer would determine under which chapter you should file. Personal bankruptcy is of two types: chapter 7 and chapter 13. Once you file, your credit ratings would be drastically reduced and it would become very difficult to retain credit cards and bank accounts. You would face difficulty buying or renting a car or home, finding an insurance provider and sometimes finding employment. In some cases you may be forced to part with some of your valuable possessions. On the other hand, a bankruptcy petition would ensure you are instantly relieved of harassment from creditors and saved from the imminent loss of your home and belongings. If you have a steady income, your bankruptcy attorney would suggest you file under chapter 13 that would allow you to retain your home and car. The court would approve any repayment plan whereby you would pay for all or some of what you owe from your future anticipated income, in lieu of surrendering...
